Learning Support Teacher - Part-time
The Learning Support Teacher will work closely with the principal, grade level faculty, special area teachers, students, and parents to best serve students with learning differences. The Learning Support Teacher will work to implement specialized teaching strategies, communicate with parents, collaborate with teachers and other education professionals, and work directly with students.
Duties:
- Assist classroom teachers, administration, and support staff to coordinate services and resources for students with specific learning needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify and adapt curriculum materials, instructional methods, and assessments to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Collaborate with educational psychologists to evaluate students’ cognitive, academic, and behavioral needs while working to implement and achieve individual student goals
- Provide direct instruction to students in a resource room setting and/or within the classroom
- Review and maintain psychological/educational evaluations and provide summaries to teachers
- Help create accommodations and modification plans for students that help them achieve their learning goals
- Hold Instructional Support Team Meetings
- Communicate regularly with teachers, administration, and parents/guardians to discuss student progress
- Participate in team meetings
- Participate in professional development opportunities and workshops to enhance skills and share timely educational research with faculty
- Assist with TerraNova Testing for modified students and schedule and coordinate makeup testing for all students in grades 2 through 7
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a related field
- Teacher certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and other exceptionalities
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
- Updated clearances
- Pennsylvania State Police Background Check
- Child Abuse Clearance
- FBI fingerprinting
Candidate must have all required clearances and must attend the Protecting God's Children class provided by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
